Spring Festival is the most important holiday for the Chinese people to have a family reunion. Nearlly all the Chinese family will prepare different kind of meal and snacks to celebrate it. Also you'll find many traditionally seasonal snacks specially made for the Spring Festival. Rice Candy is one of "Must Prepare" snak in my Home Town.

The rice candy is a snack which made from Rice with maltose. To increase the flavor some other ingreidents like fried sesame, Peanut, Sunflower Seads etc. could be also be added. When I was a kids, each family will start the preparation of the rice for the making of the rice candy one or two months before the Spring Festival. We'll steam cooked the sticky rice, mixed it with the rice bran, have it dried in the sun, Tamping it, and fried it with sand and some special ingredients to make it something crispy. When everything is ready, we'll invite the master of the rice candy maker to our home to make the candies.

After 40 years' of fast economic growing in China, our life changed a lot but for the seasonal snacks is still something to be prepared. The difference is that instead of making it at home we'll buy the ready made rice candy directly. It's one of the most popular stall in the bazzar of our town before the Spring Festival.
